AI prompt for customizing ForesightWorks
Unlock Personalized Insights from ForesightWorks Briefs with AI
ASAE's ForesightWorks Action Briefs provide valuable insights into key drivers of change. Now, you can use AI tools (like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) to go a step further and generate insights specifically tailored to your association's unique context, quickly and easily. This prompt helps the AI analyze an action brief through your association lens.
While the full prompt structure might look a bit complex at first glance, using it is actually quite straightforward. You won't need to do any complex "prompt engineering" yourself; it's simply a matter of copying the main framework and then pasting your association's information and the text of the ForesightWorks brief into clearly marked sections. The AI handles the heavy lifting of analysis based on these inputs.
However, it's important to remember that while AI can be a powerful tool for exploring questions, brainstorming potential implications, and generating diverse ideas, the insights it provides are starting points. The true "answers" and strategic decisions for your association should always emerge from human deliberation, discussion, and expert judgment.
What Can This Tool Help You Do?
By choosing one of the available "Task Modules," you can ask your AI to:
- Generate strategic questions: Create key questions based on the brief for your leadership or board discussions.
- Brainstorm member impacts: Explore how the change driver might specifically affect your members' jobs, businesses, or needs.
- Expand "Take Action" ideas: Develop more specific, creative action steps suited to your association, starting from the brief's suggestions.
- Identify monitoring signals: Pinpoint specific indicators your association can track to monitor the trend's evolution.
How to Use the Prompt
You don't need to know anything about prompting AI systems, all you need to do is cut and paste several text elements into a full prompt. Use a separate Word, GDocs, or Notepad file to assemble and edit the prompt elements:
- Main prompt framework:
- Association name
- Action Brief text (Use 1 Action Brief at a time)
- Task module (Use 1 of the 4 at a time)
Prompt Construction Instructions
Copy the main prompt framework: Start by copying the entire text (colored blue) provided in the "Main prompt framework" below.
Add Your association info: In the copied text, find the line ASSOCIATION NAME HERE and replace it with the name or type of your association/industry (e.g., "National Association of Widget Makers" or "Healthcare Professionals").
Paste the Brief: Find the markers ---ACTION_BRIEF_START--- and ---ACTION_BRIEF_END---. Paste the entire text of the ForesightWorks Action Brief you want to analyze directly between these markers. You can open up a PDF version of your Action Brief, press Control-A to select all, and then Control-C to copy all the text.
Choose ONE Task Module: Select the one task you want the AI to perform from the list of provided Task Modules (e.g., Key Questions Generator, Member Impact Brainstorm). Copy the entire text of that chosen module, including its ---TASK_START--- and ---TASK_END--- markers.
Insert the Task Module: Find the line [TASK_INSTRUCTIONS_HERE] in the main prompt text (it's near the end). Replace that line entirely by pasting the Task Module text you just copied.
Submit: Copy the entire assembled text (Main Framework + Association Name + Action Brief + Chosen Task Module) and paste it into your preferred AI chat tool.
The AI will then process the brief using the built-in guidance and perform the specific task you selected, providing insights tailored to your association. Ask follow up questions begin exploring these ideas in greater depth. Experiment with different briefs and task modules to explore various angles.
