I was recently on vacation in Europe and after leaving a tour of a castle, saw this pole covered in visitor stickers, which reminded me of this previous post about the value that foresight can bring to design. For the next couple of days this question of how to best deal with visitor stickers (Idea one: Don’t use them) was rolling around in my head. Then we visited the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki and they had an ingenious idea for their visitor stickers: Turn them into art.
As you leave the museum, there is a mirror in the entry vestibule that visitors can put their stickers on. Not only does it solve the problem of the stickers, but it engages the visitors in an ever-changing art project.
